A COUPLE scooped a gold medal at the Gay Games 2014 after they left Brixton for the USA to compete in the international event.
Jayne Schofield and Katrina Wright, who have been together for 22 years, won gold in the team event for social bowling at the games, which came to an end on August 16.
The couple, who have lived in Brixton for the last 20 years, joined 8000 competitors to participate in the contest in Cleveland, Ohio, which President Obama opened by video link.
Jayne said she intended to go to the next Gay Games, which takes place every four years.
“We had a fantastic time. It was the trip of a lifetime,” she said.
“We are definitely going to be competing at Paris 2018.”
