Despite forecasts for thunderstorms and torrential rain, around 125,000 people braved the elements to celebrate the Lambeth Country Show’s 40th birthday last weekend.
More than 60,000 people were at Brockwell Park on Saturday 19 July as the scorching sun held out all day. On Sunday an estimated 65,000 people showed up to bask under bright skies but a downpour at 5pm meant the show was forced to conclude earlier than the planned 7pm closing time.
|Lambeth council leader Cllr Lib Peck said she was really proud of this year’s Show. “It really is the highlight of the year and attracts a huge variety of people to Lambeth from all over London. It is a great way to celebrate the diversity and welcoming nature of our wonderful borough,” she said.|
