A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after three women were stabbed, one fatally, in Brixton last night (July 29).
Police were called to a house in Redlands Way at 6:41pm following reports of a 46-year-old woman being stabbed. The London Ambulance Service (LAS) and London’s Air Ambulance attended the scene and the woman was taken to a south London hospital where she remains in a critical condition, suffering from a number of injuries, including stab wounds.
At 7:10pm the Ambulance called the police to a house in nearby Tilson Gardens where two sisters had also been attacked. A 28-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:31pm while her 17-year-old sister was taken to a south London hospital suffering from stab wounds. She is in a serious but stable condition.
A manhunt by the MPS lead to the arrest of a 40-year-old man at 12:42am this morning on a bus in Streatham’s Leigham Court Road. The man is currently in custody at a south London police station.
DI Will Reynolds, the investigating officer from the Met’s Homicide and Serious Crime Command, said although the investigation is at a very early stage, he is confident that there are no outstanding suspects.
“We believe that all three victims were known to the man who is currently in our custody, there is no suggestion that the victims were selected at random.”
