What Happens in the Winter at the Albany

What Happens in the Winter

A new production by circus company Upswing is swinging by the Albany later this month with an arresting mix of theatre, aerial and dance inspired by the real lives of physical performers.

What Happens in the Winter tells the tale of two women reaching the winter of their lives. As their stories unravel, audiences are given a glimpse into how the performers navigate getting older in a career and culture which idolises youth. In the wake of London 2012 where athletic bodies, strength and physical challenge were at the height of the national media, Upswing takes a wry and poignant look at what happens once that strength and spotlight have faded.

What Happens in the Winter will be at the Albany, Douglas Way, SE8 4AG (as part of the venue’s 30th birthday celebrations) on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 April, from 7.30pm. Admission: £12 / £10 concessions.
