Clapham library is among three new buildings in Lambeth and Southwark nominated in the Design Museum’s international Design of the Year awards.
Now in its sixth year the annual awards recognise the best designs from across the globe in seven categories including architecture, digital, fashion, furniture, graphics, product and transport.
Clapham library, designed by studio Egret West, the Shard, designed by Renzo Piano, and A Room for London in the Southbank Centre, designed by David Kohn, were among seventeen structures nominated for the architecture category.
Curator of Designs of the Year 2013 Pete Collard described Clapham library as “a new source of civic pride for the area.”
The nominees will be exhibited at the Design Museum from March 20 until July 7. “London’s skyline has been changed irrevocably with the Shard and divided public opinion, a debate we hope to continue at the Design Museum,” Mr Collard said.
